I Promise

… LET the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord (Colossians 3:15-16). The apostle Paul's use of the word ‘rule’ is significant because it means to govern or preside over. Peace is an emotion and a principle that governs and presides over our lives. This peace comes from God to us; therefore, it is pure, holy, and undefiled. Life events or circumstances do not determine God’s peace.

What has Christ promised? Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid…. These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world (John 14:27; 16:33). Christ longs to give us His peace, and He will when we keep our mind continually focused on Him, and when we trust Him unwaveringly. He is our everlasting strength (Isaiah 26:3-4) because His Word dwells in us richly. Jesus reminds us, I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing. Oh, what a wonderful Savior is He.
