Jacob heard the call from God to return to Canaan, his home before he fled from his brother. Jacob had waited for that call for twenty years and dared not leave his post until God told him to leave. He knew not what awaited him. He had stolen his brother’s birthright… Would Esau still seek revenge? But the call had come, and he dare not hesitate. So, he packed his family and journeyed back to his father’s home (Genesis 31-33).
Have you been running from your past? Has God been calling you to return and face your fears, disappointments? You won’t face them alone. … Jacob had done all he could to appease his brother, right his wrongs… Now he turned to God…
And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. (Genesis 32:24).
Jacob wrestled with Christ that night until Christ won the victory on Jacob’s behalf. If you’re seeking victory over fear, anger, unforgiveness, depression… Do not despair of gaining the victory… For your victory is sure when you surrender and fall into Christ's loving arms. He will meet you in that wilderness place as your faith fasten your hand on the promises of God. God will not turn away your plea for victory, for it is sure to come.
