AND He spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint… (Luke 18:1-18). Jesus is encouraging us to bring everything to Him. There is no chapter in our life, experience, thoughts, or feelings that we cannot bring to Jesus, acknowledging our great need for Him. He encourages us to persevere in prayer, not to give up because He knows that Satan’s goal is to get us to let go, to become discouraged, to faint, and to become disheartened.
We are undeserving of God’s smallest blessing, yet He bids us come. Come to His throne of grace in our hour of need (Hebrews 4:16). So, it is not that God doesn’t hear and answer prayer… The problem is that we allow the mountain that we must climb, the desert that we must cross, the Red Sea before us to discourage us. We stop short. We fail to advance onward. Take Christ’s courage and His strength until you have what you asked for. And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He heareth us: And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him (1 John 5:14-15).
