This Light Afflication

Updated: Aug 12, 2020

Have you ever heard the saying, 'Why do bad things happen to good people?' Maybe a better question is, who determines who is good? What does the Bible say about 'good' people?

"And, behold, one came and said unto Him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And He said unto him, Why callest thou Me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments." Matthew 19:16-17.

God's amazing love and grace have not put upon you more than we can bear.

The prophet Isaiah reported, "…all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags…" Isaiah 64:6.

Why is God allowing people to suffer? People that have been kind, loving, and important to us. We may never know the answer. God tends to keep such matters private, just between the two of them. However, we do know that their good deeds have not gone unnoticed. Nor the hidden things in the heart. It takes the Almighty God to sort it all out. That is why He is called the righteous Judge.

We don't like to see people suffer. I know it is difficult to believe, but this suffering has been measured out. God's amazing love and grace have not put upon you more than we can bear. Keep trusting God. Stand devoted like the apostle Paul who God promised, "For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for My name's sake." Act 9:16.

During this time of suffering, turn your gaze to the One who suffered from the cradle, garden, the cross, "He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities…" Isaiah 53:5.

And remember, You’re not alone. You are precious. You are loved.
