Abundant Grace

"For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in Thee." Psalm 84:11-12.

What a tremendous promise. Yet who hasn't accused God of withholding from them something they wanted. It could be restored health, loss of a spouse due to divorce, a wayward child, financial support… You name it…

Nonetheless, the word of God is always true. Re-read what King David knew about God, '…no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.' Could the good thing that God never withholds is His grace? In 1 Corinthians 15:10, the apostle Paul said that "But by the grace of God I am what I am: and His grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me."

So, what is grace? It is God extending to us His divine power that makes us adequate to accomplish His divine purpose. We don't deserve His power. We can't earn it. We can only accept it and use it for His glory.

God may not restore your health; instead, He gives you His grace. He may not bring your spouse back; instead, He gives you His grace. He may allow trials to come, and with the trials, He gives you His grace. He is always giving grace. Will you trust that His grace is sufficient? Will you take up your shield of faith and declare, 'His grace is enough, more than adequate to meet my needs.' And if someone asks, why declare such when it doesn't make sense. When there is no evidence that your petition has been heard? Let your answer be, 'Because He hasn't withheld any good thing from me…"

If that wasn't enough, King David said Christ give us grace and glory. At His appointed time, when He returns, He will not withhold the glory He longs to give us. "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is." 1 John 3:2.

Won't you trust in His goodness, because when we accept His grace, we live and respond to trials under the power and authority of the King of the universe? No more do we respond out of our strength.

I'm so glad that He has not withheld any good things from us. I'm so grateful for His amazing grace.
